Some Days I Can't Give You My All

Some Days I Can’t Give You My All
Some days I’m busy.
I have laundry to fold, dinner to make, dishes to clean.
Some days I am distracted.
I need to call the doctor, the dentist, the cable company, the bank.
Some days your brother needs me more than others.
I have to tend to the baby while you watch TV, rock him to sleep while you entertain yourself.
Some days I have to work.
I have to send an email or work on something for the school or church.
Some days I’m tired.
I close my eyes when I sink onto the couch instead of playing a game with you.
Some days I am not happy.
I miss my parents, or my friends, or my old job, or my carefree youth. I feel sad or mad or overwhelmed.
But it has nothing to do with you. I am an imperfect person and I'm sorry.
Some days when I can’t give you my all, it doesn’t mean I love you any less.
I just need a moment so that I can give you my all again later.
